No excuses for going here again, but Ascot has set itself up as the home of the Champions Finals but is participating in a huge conspiracy about the draw bias that exists on the staright mile. Yesterday they continued their policy of trying to ensure that both high and low numbers featured in races, by moving the starting stalls from the near side of centre to the far rail for different races. This makes a nonsence of race times and makes the true evaluation of the form very difficult as historically the position of the stalls will not be available. Last year they used the watering system to manipulate the going so that in the Royal meeting the far side was favoured early in the week and later the near side. Its a disgrace. Why don't they just stop all this denial and dig the track up and put it down properly. Its only been used for a few years and shows no signs of changing. You simply cannot have Championship races run of a track which favours some runners against others. Reply
