Todays Aintree Grand National has 34 going to post. Of those - 26 are trained in Ireland. That in itself must be a record. Owner J.P.McManus has five runners - of which four are trained by Willie Mullins (the other by Gavin Cromwell). Willie Mullins has in total eight runners. Gigginstown House Stud also own four runners - all trained by Gordon Elliott. In fact - trainer Elliott has eight runners. Henry De Bromhead has three runners and Gavin Cromwell has two runners. With prizemoney down to tenth receiving £5k I suppose why not. Even ninth finisher will receive £10k.
