Mawj was a good winner of the 1000 gns and she was picked out by RP 9 or 10 months ago so RESPECT. She had definitely been given the Dubai treatment and looked a completely different filly from last year. It was really a job to recognise her and I must have missed her on the gallops this year.

What a strange weekend of racing. You have to listen to a load of rubbish if you watch the ITV coverage it really is getting worse but not only the TV people the so called racing professionals talk such nonsense too.

Its really not difficult, racing that is, unless you want it to be difficult. If a horse doesn't stay a mile it makes no difference if the ground is good or soft. If makes no difference if you ride them for speed or try to hold them up. If you have one that is on pedigree already suited to 10 furlongs it is hardly ever going to win a Guineas over a mile, it simply will not have the class.

Horses with mis matched pedigrees hardly ever win top class races after their 2yo career and if they do it is much more likely that they will be sprinters rather than middle distance horses.
