It seems to me that whereas one can tick all the boxes when breeding a good horse but once it leaves your ownership then it's future success is out of your hands and success or failure hugely depends on the trainer. At a guess, what percentage of success is earned by the trainer? The top trainers seem to me to be the ones that train the Gr 1 winners - and the vast majority of Gr 1 winners are 'super' bred. So breed the best to the best and have it trained by the best! That is what the small commercial breeder is up against. Some wall to climb, huh? Reply
