Well January 1st it is but what is ahead. We all hope for a bright new year of a better life etc. but let's be realistic! What are the odds that 2021 will be worse than 2020 ? Living in hope is all very well but it doesn't pay the bills does it? The two big factors we are facing are (A) the advance of Covid and (B) the effects of Brexit. On the Brexit issue, France, Spain, Belgium etc can control air transport and sea ports etc. but we cant do that in Ireland. How will the 'no border' situation effect the UK and Ireland? Will criminals have a field day? Will border control have to be reinstated and what nationalistic effect will that lead to? So many worries ahead I find it hard to welcome the new year!
