There was a very interesting and inciteful article in the Sunday Times this week asking questions about just how serious Irelands racing industry is taking about claims that a doping culture exists and is significant. In yesterdays Racing Post the Irish authorities swiftly attempted to discredit the article and essentially sweep it under the carpet. Some quite revealing statistics were published about the likelihood of an Irish trained horse to test positive compared to a UK horse especially if the horse was a National Hunt horse.

When a trainer as experienced and resected as Jim Bolger describes doping as the biggest problem in the sport in Ireland you have to wonder if the authorities are just turning a blind eye to the problem, or are they actively aiding and abetting these practices.
