CAPTAIN MARVELLOUS has 2-y-o's, yearlings and foals in Ireland and mares in-foal in France and now it has been announced he has moved on to Italy (a leasing agreement) where he has had four 2-y-o winners from four runners. He is still owned by Ballyhane Stud where he stood his first three seasons. Is this the way things are these days? When a stallion in Ireland goes 'cold' they cannot sell him so lease him instead. Last year he was leased to a French Stud and that was before his first crop hit the track. It makes me think the Irish breeders who used him in his second and third crop are on a hiding. If the owners of a stallion have given up before the first runners start to race then what chance have the breeders /vendors got with the Sales Companies who just don't want to know ? Reply
