That time of the year when stallion fees are announced. From the lists posted below I am shocked by the prices quoted. What world are these stalllion owners living in? The fees are gross and are in these times of belt tightening, recession, and downward salaries etc., etc., the stallion fees I have seen so far are in total contradiction of the finances of the State.
The hype of advertising high sales figures is a farce and not a true picture. Of course the top end is secure but the Sales Companies have cut the number of Sales days and this has falsely altered the true picture. The lower end of the business has never been so bad. Sales entry fees are up, Vet, certs etc.. are up, transports etc are up, grooms day expenses are up - all these higher costs make the not sold/no bids horses even bigger losses. But the stallion men have pocketed their fees two years before the yearling enters the sales ring. Comments please.
