27 trainers, veterinarians and drug distributors have been charged , in a series of indictments, with doping racehorses and cheating the public. They were charged in a wide-ranging scheme to secretly dope horses and cheat the betting public, according to federal indictments unsealed on Monday in Manhattan.
Among the 27 people charged was Jason Servis, the trainer of Maximum Security. The horse has already been moved by his owners to trainer Bob Baffert.

Yes I read the report in the New York Times and here is a paragraph Servis covertly administered performance-enhancing drugs “to virtually all of the racehorses under his control, the indictment charged, adding that from 2018 to February 2020 he entered horses in more than 1,000 races." This is a shocking situation and in my opinion puts US racing/results/breeding in the garbage bin. Reply

and another quote At a news conference announcing the charges, Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States attorney in Manhattan, said that the case was the most far-reaching prosecution of racehorse doping in the history of the Department of Justice and that the investigation was continuing. The defendants, he said, had acted “not for the love of the sport and certainly not out of care for the horses, but for money. The horses were “injected and force-fed all manner of illegal and experimental drugs, drugs that allowed the horses to run unnaturally fast and to mask pain, which can lead to injuries and death, he said." If these individuals are found to be guilty they must be banned for life from any job that has even a remote connection to the sport. Racing must say without hesitation or uncertainty that this is unacceptable and as a sport we collectively don't want people like you involved at any level ever again. It will be punishment with an element of a warning for anyone who may be tempted in the future. Reply

Yes but what about those in Authority? Do you think they didn't know what has been going on for years and years in US? Of course they must have known. Reply

There are a few minor issues here. Do the authorities have a library of blood samples taken from all major win and place horses? Will they back test those samples again and again when new detection is available? Have the authorities withheld prizemoney or percentages, or is it all paid out? Will wins be cancelled / group wins removed from runners, sires, and dams? Will the cataloguing authorities and auction horses amend race and breeding records? Will the authorities deep clean those people from racing? Reply

I have just read this in the TDN: 'the government will lean on the vets and drug suppliers and cut them a deal to serve up names of the others who they were supplying with performance-enhancing drugs. It=s highly unlikely that their customers were limited to the handful of trainers that have been indicted. If that turns out to be the case, the floodgates could open and the number of trainers that go down could be staggering. These guys are facing five years in prison and will no doubt sing if offered a deal.' This could really put the cat among the pigeons. Reply
