TOO DARN HOT was impressive to my eyes yesterday when taking the Sussex Gr 1 at Goodwood. The whole field of 8 runners may have finished pretty much in one bunch and whether that makes it a good race or not I am unsure. Trainer John Gosden said after the race that in his opinion 7 furlongs was probably the best TDH distance and with the downhill run at Goodwood the mile is one of the easier ones.

With hindsight to me it seems Aidan O'Brien had a disappointing Goodwood where most of his runners ran below par and that includes his second and third in the Sussex. TOO DARN HOT is a very good horse but his best distance has to be 7 furlongs and imo he got real lucky in the Sussex beating a poor field of runners. Reply

Do you get the feeling they couldn't wait to get him retired Amadan? I think before the St James' they were a little worried. Still he did win 2 G1's at 3 which is 2 more than a lot that are standing. Reply
