On another thread I highlighted the Goffs average when deleting the figures the top ten yearlings fetched. The sale average of sold yearlings on Day One was 144,222 but deleting the top ten the average for the rest was 106,114.

Now, Day TWO the figures are more startling. The headlines tomorrow will hail a FANTASTIC sale and maybe it was - it certainly was for the sellers of the top ten lots - now please understand I am not a mathematics scientist. But here is my analysis of Day TWO:

160 sold for 19,372,000 an average of 121,075.
The top TEN lots fetched a staggering 10,375,000 so take that off the aggregate and the average of the 150 lots had an Average of 69,166.
The sale was compiled in dam alphabet order so why such a drop from day one. Leaving aside the top Ten lots on both days the two averages for the other lots differred from 106,114 to 69,166.
As I said, I am no mathematician and so tell me if I am off my head and wrong but aren't those figures very strange?
