Reading todays report of a "Buy British" announced by the TBA is seriously bad news for Irish Breeders if the proposals go through. Here is a summary:

Nominated foals out of British-based mares visiting British-based stallions will qualify their owners for a £20,000 bonus in around 850 races for two- and three-year-olds, and £10,000 for a further 150 fillies-only races, on the Flat; about 1,900 jump races will carry a £10,000 bonus;

Foals out of British-based mares visiting foreign stallions – including those based in Ireland - or foreign mares visiting British-based stallions will earn 50 per cent of the first-category bonus payments.

The proposal was presented to the Horseman’s Group earlier this week. It will now be put forward for approval by the BHA, Racing Authority and Levy Board, with the intention of starting implementation from 2019.

Is this another Brexit wedge that we see in all aspects of business these days?
