I was looking through some recent stallion stats and the emphasis is undoubtedly on progeny prizemoney rather than percentages. I question the logic but perhaps I am wrong to do that. However, here is an example of my recent stats finding (as from 24/June).
In order of earnings the top European leaders are listed below in order of prizemoney but instead of listing the prizemoney I have added the precentage of winners to runners after each stallion:
GALILEO--------------- 28.13
SIYOUNI--------------- 33.33
FRANKEL ---------------48.05
INVINCIBLE SPIRIT----32.84
MASTERCRAFTSMAN----32.46
NEW APPROACH --------30.84
POET'S VOICE-----------38-00
DUBAWI-----------------37.30
DARK ANGEL-----------28.26
KODIAC-----------------29.14
They are the top ten some interesting sires further down the list are:
DEEP IMPACT (13th) ----50.00 (8 runners/4 winners)
FASTNET ROCK(16th)----46-07
CAMELOT(19th)-----------39-05
PIVOTEL(21st)------------37.82
WOOTEN BASSET(27th)--40-00
Now as you can see from those figures, if the list was in winners/runners it would be quite a different list!
Then I looked at the % of Black Typre winners/runners and here is a short list of my analysis:
FRANKEL----------10.39
GALILEO-----------10.00
CAMELOT-----------5.71
FASTNET ROCK-----4.49
SIYOUNI------------4.55 and so on

Which statistic list should we give the REAL credit to ?
My figures are all subject to correction as I am just an amateur observer trying to make sense of it all!
