Champion mare Zarkava has given birth to her ninth foal, a colt by Sea The Stars, reports Racing Post. The Aga Khan Studs tweeted on Sunday: "On this day of records, another of the Aga Khan champions, #Zarkava, turns 13. The 2008 Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner gave birth to a strong colt by the mighty #SeaTheStars earlier this week and will visit Dubawi. #racinglegend #happybirthdaychampion." Zarkava's best progeny to date is her son Zarak (Dubawi) who lived up to his blue blooded pedigree when winning the Gr1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (2400m) last year. Also Gr1-placed in the French Derby and Prix Ganay, Zarak now stands at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval in France. Zarkava is set to visit Dubawi again this year. Crowned the 2008 European Horse of the Year, Zarkava (Zamindar) won all seven of her starts at two and three, culminating with her brilliant victory in the 2008 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. She was the first filly or mare since Urban Sea (the dam of Galileo & Sea The Stars) in 1993 to win the Arc.
