Hiyaam's win in last weekend's Gr1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill has delivered a massive windfall to a pair of New Zealand breeders, reports NZ Racing Desk. Raced by breeder Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Hiyaam was raised at Brighthill Farm and is out of the Zabeel mare Mazarine, who hails from the legendary Eight Carat family. "Chris Chamberlain and I bought the mare off Gavelhouse and she's got a lovely Rip Van Winkle filly, which at this stage we'll keep," said Michael Moran, a long-standing member of the Windsor Park Stud team. "Rip Van Winkle's certainly a great sire of fillies, he had seven stakes winners from his first crop so we're certainly delighted to have her." Moran added: "It was a great result on Saturday and her run in the Phar Lap (third) was off the dial. She's some filly and once she drew one in the Vinery she was never going to get beaten." Hiyaam is currently on the third line of betting at $7 with TAB for the $1 million Gr1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday week. Reply
