Peter Snowden says star sprinter Redzel is cherry ripe for Saturday's $2.5 million Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick. Snowden watched as Redzel sizzled over 800 metres at yesterday's Breakfast With The Stars track work session at Randwick, covering the final 600m in 34.5 seconds and the last 400m in 21.68 seconds. "He has a great action and really does cover the ground well. He never looks to be doing that sort of work but that's what makes him the horse he is," Snowden told racingnsw.com.au. "He makes hard work look very easy. He's not a big horse but he has a good stride and is very efficient. I wanted to make sure his work was spot on and I didn't want to work him again." Redzel will be having his third run this campaign after resuming with a close second to Redkirk Warrior in the Gr1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington on 17 February, followed by a brilliant win in the Gr2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on 10 March. TAB currently have Redzel listed as the dominant $2.25 favourite for TJ Smith Stakes. Reply
