The three day Goffs Sale ended today and I thought it was a dismal depressing three days. There is no limit to the price of the top lots so no doubt there will be flattering headlines but overall I thought it was a black few days for the Irish Bloodstock Industry. (1) Over the three days there were 633 lots entered but only 508 went through the ring so that is over 20% were withdrawn. (2) Of the 508 that went through the ring only 334 were recorded as sold (and we all know many were not sold) That is around 65% were recorded sold. (3) The overall Average was €14,392 and the Median was €6650. I dont have the number of NO BIDs but at one point yesterday while I was looking in the ring, there were four consecutive NO BIDs. I dont think I have ever seen so many horses simply unwanted by anyone in a sale. Reply
