A very good conversation on the other thread re conformation etc.. It has prompted me to raise the issue of buying mares with wind problems. As we all know "wind" issues are returnable at the sales for yearlings/breeze-up etc but unsound with a wind problem is not returnable at broodmare sales. So you select a mare, check out her conformation, check out her pedigree, be happy with what you see and buy her and bring her home. But she is "wrong" of her wind - you don't know it, but many are. So now you breed from a mare with what - a 50% chance of breeding a yearling wrong of it's wind? Seriously, how many of you have bought a mare without knowing she may be "wrong" of her wind?
