Trainer Lindsey Smith is considering a bold plan to run Perth Cup favourite Trap For Fools in two stakes races in the space of a week, reports the West Australian. Smith confirmed that Trap For Fools will start in tomorrow's Listed ATA Stakes (2200m) at Ascot, and that he may back up in the Gr2 Ted van Heemst Stakes (2100m) on Saturday. His primary target remains the Gr2 Perth Cup (2400m) on 1st January. "We'll go to the first one and see how he pulls up, but at this stage he'll go around in both," Smith said. "He would have a hard gallop on Wednesday whether it was in a race or at home. I've done it in the past with success and not many horses come along like this one." Smith added: "If he doesn't come up for Saturday we'll just wait for the Perth Cup. On Saturday he has to race against Group 1 performers at equal weights, which won't be easy." Trap For Fools (Poet's Voice-Old Money, by Old Spice) has stamped himself as the most exciting young stayer in West Australia after scoring successive stakes wins in the Listed Tattersall's Cup (2100m) and Listed GA Towton Cup (2200m) at his past two outings.
