Dual Gr1-winning sprinter Marsha smashed the European record for a broodmare on day two of the Tattersalls December Mares Sale when selling to MV Magnier for 6 million guineas on Tuesday, reports Racing Post. Consigned by Sir Mark Prescott's Heath House Stables, Marsha (Acclamation-Marlinka, by Marju) eclipsed the previous European record of 4.7 million guineas set in 2013 for fellow dual Gr1 winner Immortal Verse. After confirming Marsha would be retired, Magnier said: "Sir Mark did a wonderful job with her and if we can do half as good, we'll be okay. She has a lovely presence about her, she's something very special." The Irish-bred Marsha won 7 of her 18 starts highlighted by wins in the Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes and Gr1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp.
