Te Akau Racing principal David Ellis has provided an update on the progress of top-class racehorse Gingernuts, reports racing.com. The triple Gr1 winner was readmitted to the University Veterinary Clinic at Werribee on Monday night after suffering a setback in his recovery from injury. The 4YO was operated on after fracturing a near front pastern prior to the running of the Gr1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington in the spring, but there were concerns an infection may have subsequently taken hold. "The vets say he is not any more lame than he should be for a horse who has been operated on and that his temperature has come down again," Ellis said. "That temperature was the concern and the reason he went back to the clinic because they were worried when it went up on Monday and there is always that concern with post-surgery infection." Ellis added: "But things are back to normal now, his appetite is good and we are confident he will be fine." Reply
