Displaying a racing style that leaves little margin for error, outstanding Irish-bred colt Brametot (Rajsaman-Morning Light, by Law Society) teased his supporters until the dying strides of France's €1,500,000 Gr1 Prix du Jockey Club (2100m) for 3YOs at Chantilly (see below). Sent out the $2.70 favourite for the French equivalent of the Derby off the back of a hat-trick that included May's Gr1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains at Deauville, the Al Shaqab-owned colt ranged up to join a wall of horses 200m from home before inching ahead in the shadows of the post. Beaten a short-head was Waldgeist (Galileo), with another length to Recoletos (Whipper). Post-race, trainer Jean-Claude Rouget intimated that he'd held concerns over the winner's ability to stay the distance as until then he'd never been beyond a mile. From the immediate family of Monsun, whose progeny are well known to Australian turf aficionados, Brametot has now won 6 of his first 7 starts, with his other run producing a runner-up in Listed company, to bank €1,326,340 for connections. He was a €26,000 weanling purchase at Arqana's 2014 December Breeding Stock Sale. Reply
