Co-trainer David Hayes says impressive Goodwood winner Vega Magic will be given a spring preparation aimed at the inaugural running of the $10 million The Everest (1200m) in Sydney on 14 October. Having his first start outside of his home state of West Australia, Vega Magic signalled to Everest slot-holders that he was a sprinter worthy of their attention when scoring a brilliant first-up win for new trainers David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig in last weekend's $1 million sprint at Morphettville. Hayes said Vega Magic would likely go into The Everest second-up from a spell. "We're going to give him a light holiday; a bit of a freshen-up and then have him back into stable up and firing by September," Hayes told racing.com. "He's a pretty underrated horse still and I'm sure there will be a lot of interest in him." Reply
