Beautifully bred colt Valcartier, a son of Arrowfield’s multiple champion Australian sire Redoute’s Choice, got off the mark at the second time of asking when posting an arrogant win at Nottingham in the UK overnight. Trained by John Gosden on behalf of his owner Godolphin, Valcartier lived up to his favourite billing by coasting to an effortless win in a 3YO maiden over 1700 metres. Jockey William Buick even had time to take several peeps over his shoulder before the 3YO won unextended and eased down by 4 lengths. Bred by Barronstown Stud, Valcartier was a €950,000 purchase by John Ferguson at the 2015 Arqana August Yearling Sale. He is the fifth foal to race from the Gr1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Vadawina (Unfuwain), dam also of stakes performers Vadamar, Vedouma, and Vedevani. This is also the family of Gr1 winners Valixir and Vadamos. Reply
