Darley has announced that Frosted, the highest-rated son of Champion North American stallion Tapit, will join its Northwood Park stallion roster this year, while Gr1 Prix Jean Prat winner Territories, who hails from the family of Champion stallion Street Cry, will shuttle to Kelvinside. Frosted (Tapit-Fast Cookie, by Deputy Minister), a winner of 6 of his 19 starts for US$3.9 million in prize money, won three races at Gr1 level, namely the Wood Memorial Stakes (9 furlongs), Metropolitan Handicap (8 furlongs) and Whitney Stakes (9 furlongs). His Metropolitan win was arguably the most impressive win on a US racetrack last year when he claimed won the Belmont Park feature by a stunning 14.25 lengths in a stakes record time of 1:32.73. Territories (Invincible Spirit-Taranto, by Machiavellian) won 3 of his 13 starts, highlighted by his win in the Gr1 Prix Jean Prat (1600m) at Chantilly, taking the race in the second-fastest time ever recorded. Territories was also runner-up to Gleneagles in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, as well as second in the Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp. “Frosted and Territories were elite racehorses and we are thrilled to have them join our roster here in Australia. Frosted’s Gr1 wins came in races won by some of the greats. The names you see in pedigrees. He is the best son of a Champion sire and from a top female line. He is a top-class prospect for Victorians,” said Alastair Pulford, Head of Sales for Darley stallions in Australia. “Territories is by the sire of I Am Invincible and from the same female family as Darley’s amazing servants Street Cry and Shamardal so there is no doubt he has the credentials to be a success at stud. He is exactly what our market will love.” Fees for Frosted and Territories will be announced at a later date Reply
