Gr1-winning Kiwi colt Summer Passage (Snitzel-Subsequent, by Encosta de Lago) is almost certain to travel to Australia to take on Sydney's best 3YOs at the end of the month, reports theinformant.co.nz. The highly regarded colt, who broke through at the highest level when posting a stylish win in last Thursday's Gr1 Sistema Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie, is set to contest the $1 million Gr1 ATC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) on the opening day of The Championships (1st April). "All going well, and provided we're happy with how he works for the rest of this week, he'll head over to Sydney and run in the Sires," co-trainer Andrew Scott said yesterday afternoon. The handsomely bred Summer Passage is a direct descendant of the good producing Machiavellian mare Subterfuge, making him a close relation to dual Gr1-winning Hong Kong sprinter Scintillation (Danehill), Gr2-winning Australian mare Shania Dane (Danehill), stakes-winning Queensland mare Risk Aversion, English Derby winner Slip Anchor, and talented Gr2 Hobartville Stakes winner Man From Uncle.
