With Flying Artie out of Saturday's Gr1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington, trainer Mick Price has decided to run his stable-mate Extreme Choice in the $1.25 million sprint feature. Price also confirmed that superstar jockey Joao Moreira, who was booked to ride Flying Artie, will now jump aboard Extreme Choice replacing the colt's regular rider Craig Newitt. It has been reported that connections wanted a new rider for the dual Gr1 winner after his first-up third placing in the Gr1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield. "He [Extreme Choice] deserves his chance in the Newmarket and he will now run with Flying Artie out of action," Price told racing.com. "I don't think we saw the best of Extreme Choice in the Coolmore Stud Stakes last spring. I think he is better than that." Price added: "Joao Moreira was booked for Flying Artie but he will now ride Extreme Choice. There is still a chance he could go to the William Reid after the Newmarket, it is 13 days after. We will just see how he comes through Saturday." Reply
