Joao "Magic" Moreira has rewritten the record books by becoming the first jockey in the history of Hong Kong racing to ride eight winners in a day at Sha Tin on Sunday, reports the South China Morning Post. Moreira had equalled the feat previously riding eight winners in Singapore and also his native Brazil, but never in the former British colony. "I think it is even harder to do in Hong Kong," Moreira said. "I was so pumped. And my wife was out on the balcony and screaming out to me, so I screamed back. I so wanted to share that moment with her. You can't ever expect these things, I have no words to describe it." Moreira will fly to Australia later this week to ride Flying Artie in the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) and Godolphin 3YO Tally in the Gr1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on Saturday.
