Trainer Gary Portelli has issued an ominous warning to the future rivals of boom filly She Will Reign (Manhattan Rain-Courgette, by Charge Forward) following her breathtaking barrier trial win at Warwick Farm on Monday. She Will Reign, who has won her only two starts by a combined margin of 12 lengths, smashed her rivals when scoring by 9 lengths in the sizzling time of 45 seconds flat for the 800 metres. The performance saw her firm into outright favouritism for next month's Golden Slipper. Portelli said she will resume in the Gr2 Silver Slipper (1100m) at Rosehill on 18 February as she builds towards the $3.5 million Gr1 Golden Slipper (1200m) on 18 March. "She just does things so easily. In all my 20-odd years at Warwick Farm I can't recall any horse running 45 [seconds] and then having such a big time difference with every other trial on the day. Times tell the story, it was an amazing trial," Portelli told Melbourne's Radio Sport National. "Benny [jockey Ben Melham] came up [from Melbourne] to give her a trial...and he said she had plenty up her sleeve, so its scary." He added: "She will run in the Silver Slipper in two weeks time, then she'll go to the Reisling, and then the Slipper if she is qualified." Reply
