Outstanding racemare Islington (Sadler's Wells-Hellenic, by Darshaan) gave birth to a filly by Oasis Dream at her home at Ballymacoll Stud in Ireland last month, reports Racing Post. A 4-time Gr1 winner of the Nassau Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks (twice) and the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, the daughter of Sadler's Wells now boasts the remarkable record of all eleven of her foals being fillies. "She’s a lovely foal,” said Ballymacoll manager Peter Reynolds. “It’s absolutely incredible. Islington lost one foal in America [when covered by Storm Cat in 2007] and I’m not absolutely certain, but there’s a possibility that could have been a colt - maybe that’s why she lost it." He added: "We examined her today and she’s fit and healthy and she’ll head to Newmarket in about a fortnight, and there she’ll be covered by Kingman.” Islington is out of Ballymacoll Stud's blue hen Hellenic, who has also produced Gr1 winners Greek Dance & Mountain High. Hellenic is also the grandmother of the unraced Pilsudski mare Desert Bloom, dam of Melbourne Cup winner and now sire Fiorente. Reply
