The first foal by former outstanding Irish galloper Free Eagle (High Chaparral-Polished Gem, by Dunhill) has been born at Bickfield House Farm in the UK, reports Racing Post. The filly is out of the unraced Mark Of Esteem mare Al Kahina, a half-sister to the Listed Flame Of Tara Stakes winner Kanisfluh. The Dermot Weld-trained Free Eagle was retired to stand at the Irish National Stud in December 2015 after winning 3 of his 8 starts, including the Gr1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot. The prodigiously talented Moyglare homebred also shuttled to Cornerstone Stud in Australia last year. John Osborne, CEO of the Irish National Stud, said: "The success in the sales ring so far of Dundeel and Toronado [other sons of High Chaparral] hints that Free Eagle will produce foals in his own image - and he is a beauty!" Free Eagle stands at the Irish National Stud at a fee of €20,000. Reply
