At Saint-Cloud in France, former Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) celebrated an elite success when 2YO colt Waldgeist (Galileo-Waldlerche, by Monsun) scored by 1 length for trainer Andre Fabre in the €250,000 Gr1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud(10 furlongs) for 2YOs, over fellow 2YO colts Best Solution (Kodiac-Al Andalyya, by Kingmambo) & Capri (Galileo-Dialafara, by Anabaa). This was the first stakes victory for Waldgeist who improved his record to 2 wins and 1 placing from 3 starts. Trainer Andre Fabre told Sky Sports: "I was fond of him before and I'm even fonder of him now. He is not short of pace, but the longer distance didn't do him any harm." He added: "He is obviously a Derby type. I can see him performing well at the Curragh (Irish Derby), but he will be prepared for the Epsom Derby as well."
