Godolphin have confirmed that Irish-bred stayer Scottish (Teofilo-Zeiting, by Zieten) will miss the Melbourne Cup in favour of the $2 million Gr1 Emirates Stakes (2000m) on the final day of the Cup carnival. Trainer Charlie Appleby told Godolphin.com: "Scottish has continued to do well since the Caulfield Cup and we are happy to have him dropping back in distance, from 2,400m to 2,000m for the Emirates." Scottish is coming off an encouraging Australian debut when he finished second to Jameka in the Gr1 Caulfield Cup twelve days ago.
