At York in the UK overnight, Coolmore shuttler and triple Gr1-winning champion European sire Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Group success when 3YO Irish bred colt Idaho (Galileo-Hveger, by Danehill) scored by 1.75-lengths for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the Gr2 Great Voltigeur Stakes (12 furlongs) for 3YOs, over fellow 3YO colt and stable-mate Housesofparliament (Galileo-Sharp Lisa, by Dixieland Band) & 3YO colt Across The Stars (Sea the Stars-Victoria Cross, by Mark of Esteem). Trainer Aidan O'Brien confirmed that Idaho - who is a full brother to Highland Reel - would make his next appearance in the Gr1 English St Leger at Doncaster on 10 September. "He had a nice break after the Irish Derby and he was ready for a comeback run," O'Brien told At the Races. "Idaho might go up to a mile and six (furlongs), but I'm not sure he'll go much further than that. I'd be very happy for him to come back to a mile and a quarter and a mile and a half as a four-year-old." He added: "We had our eye on the Leger and this race came at a lovely time." Like Highland Reel, Idaho is out of the Gr1-placed Australian mare Hveger (Danehill), a full-sister to multiple Gr1 winner Elvstroem and a half-sister to fellow multiple Gr1 scorer Haradasun from Australian Oaks heroine Circles Of Gold. This is also the family of sub-fertile but brilliant young sire Starspangledbanner and Golden Slipper winner Polar Success. Reply
