Highlad (High Chaparral-My Lady's Chamber, by Arena) took a step towards a possible classic campaign in Melbourne when making a winning debut over 1200 metres at Avondale yesterday, reports NZ Racing Desk. "He covered a fair bit of ground in the run so it was a very good effort," said Andrew Forsman, who trains the son of High Chaparral with Murray Baker. "He still did a bit wrong and I think he beat some handy horses." He added: "Right from when he was an autumn two-year-old we've had the VRC Derby [Gr1] in mind so we'll see how he goes in his next two or three starts and we'll try and get him there if we can." Highlad is out of the former stakes winning mare My Lady's Chamber (Arena), who was also placed in the Gr1 Flight Stakes, Gr2 Tea Rose Stakes, and Gr2 Furious Stakes during her 3YO season. This is also the female family of Gr2 Magic Night Stakes winner Regal Chamber, dam of Gr1 Coolmore Classic winner Regal Cheer. Reply
