With the success of Frankel you probably noticed a few horses by Galileo out of a Danehill mare.-----I decided to compare Frankel to other horses in my database by counting the number of animals in other pedigrees that matched the animals in Frankel’s pedigree (15 ancestors in Frankel; 15 in the target horse: 1,2,4,8.) -------------------This was a test to see if I could ferret out horses that matched. -----------------I might use this program to spot things that are not easily observed / not obvious --------(1) are horses in a pedigree closely related to each other?-----(2) are horses in a pedigree closely related to famous horses? e.g Sea-Bird’s second dam Marmelade was a full-sibling of 1950 English 1000 Guineas winner Camaree.-----(3) is a mare closely related to a sire at stud? These are known by all, but it was nice to see the program list the full siblings and a few others. The program ignores half-siblings. They must be more than half. ------------ It is now finding close relations to 280k horses, but that is a very slow exercise: take the 1st horse and compare it to 280k horses one at a time, take the 2nd horse and compare it to 280k horses and so on.
