Carlton House (USA), owned by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, will take part in an exhibition gallop after Race 2 on the program this Saturday (9 March) at Warwick Farm*.

The Queen has never raced a horse permanently in Australia; the last time she had a runner in Australia was when Arabian Story raced in the 1997 Melbourne Cup.

The horse’s last two public appearances were at the British Champions meeting at Ascot last October and the Hong Kong International meeting in December.

Carlton House is being trained by Gai Waterhouse and will take to the course proper this weekend alongside Fiorente, the runner-up in last year’s Melbourne Cup.

The pair will cover approximately 1000m. The Queen’s horse will be ridden by Nash Rawiller and Fiorente by James McDonald. This will be the first time the five-year-old stallion will participate in a public gallop on Australian soil.

Carlton House will carry the distinctive colours of purple with gold braid, scarlet sleeves and black velvet
cap with gold fringe.

Also to make an appearance at Warwick Farm this Saturday is champion More Joyous. The ever-popular mare will gallop over 1000m following the completion of Race 1 before her next expected start in the Cellarbrations Canterbury Stakes which will be run as a Group One for the first time on 23 March.

* Exhibition gallops are subject to track conditions
