Reading all the various comments - very clever comments too - on breeding I can't help thinking that we are much the wiser with the benefit of hindsight. For instance, a post below rightly praises the idea of a DANEHILL mare being covered by NORTHERN DANCER line - all very good and correct comments too. But we only know these success stories with the benefit of hindsight and let's face it, not many breeders will have a DANEHILL mare to follow through will they? So speculation of future hindsight is the KEY !!! Laughing How do we do that? Have any of you breeders bred a decent horse - I am sure you have. Now I don't want you to tell me the name of the horse or indeed, the name of your mare but perhaps something like "My mare by ???? produced a decent runner (rated ?) by a grandson of ???? and also useless runners by ???? and ????. Get my drift. Reply
